At this point I’ve watched enough movies that I can estimate the quality of the movie on the basis of the trailer. Rarely does it ever happen that my estimation ends up wrong.
With project hail mary, it did, and that’s great lowkey.
When I saw the trailer of Hail Mary I thought it won’t be that good. But then it releases in the cinema and suddenly everyone is talking about how good it is.
So I went to the cinema and watched the film for myself.
And it’s good af.
I’ve realised that Ryan Gosling is just good at acting bruh. You just put that man in a situation and he’ll make it work. It all comes down to how the situation is written.
And for some reason the film initially did not market the character of rocky (which is probably why my prediction was inaccurate).
But now watching the film I can easily say it’s a very good movie. 9/10
Meditations
Meditations is a book that was supposed to be a personal journal of Marcus Aurelius written 2000 years ago. In that journal he talks to himself in second person, so it almost seems like he’s talking to you.
And this man has a lot to say.
Normally I am not a philosophy reader, I find philosophy literature to be complex and boring (maybe cuz I’m stupid??)
But Meditations is a relatively easy read, as everything is broken down into paragraphs and the essays written that are not insanely long (which makes it easier to follow what they’re trying to say). However it was still a difficult read for me. This was my second attempt at the book.
The book talks a lot about death, nature and god (and how they’re related).
Meditations is one of the flagship frontrunners of stoicism. Which is a school of philosophy that indulges in the idea of not worrying about the things that are not in your control. That can range from something as tiny as other people’s thoughts all the way to the order of the universe.
However the book is very much written for its time. I doubt Marcus Aurelius would have the same opinions if he saw what the world has become in the last 200 years.
The book is very much devotional to a god like figure and considers everyone who doesn’t believe in that god to be a beast. (An animal, not a cool crazy dude)
Overall a pretty good read good tho. 8/10
